At Saint Luke’s Hospitals, the following COVID-19 detection tests are available for you; there are four types: The FDA website approved these types of tests to diagnose COVID-19 infection:
- Rapid Blood Test: Blood Test (IGG/IGM)
Price: from $999 MXN “Results are for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, IgM and IgG that are generated as part of the human immune response to the virus. IgM antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are generally detectable in blood several days after initial infection, although levels over the course of infection are not well characterized. IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 become detectable later following infection. Positive results for both IgG and IgM could occur after infection and can be indicative of acute or recent infection.”
Detects antibodies as a result of a past infection, after 14 days of presenting symtoms or suspected contagion. DOES NOT EMIT AN ACTUAL DIAGNOSIS.
Result delivery: 30 minutes to One Hour once taken the test.
- Rapid Antigen test.
Price: from $999 MXN Antigen test. This test for COVID-19 detects certain proteins in the virus. A swab is used to take a sample of fluid from the nose, and antigen tests can give results in minutes. Other samples can be sent to a laboratory for analysis. A positive antigen test result is considered accurate when the instructions are followed carefully, but there is a greater chance of having a false negative result – meaning that it is possible to be infected with the virus but have a negative result. Depending on the situation, your doctor may recommend a PCR test to confirm a negative antigen test result.
Detects proteins of the COVID-19 virus from its start up until 7 days after being active. HAS A LOWER DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMANCE THAN MOLECULAR TESTS (PCR).
Result delivery: 30 minutes to One Hour once taken the test.
- PCR test (Polymerase chain reaction).
Price: from $3950 MXN PCR test. Also known as the molecular test, this test detects the genetic material of the COVID-19 virus using a laboratory technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A fluid sample is collected with a nasal or throat swab, or perhaps salivates into a tube to produce a saliva sample. Results can be ready in minutes if they are analyzed internally, or in a few days if they are sent to an external laboratory – or perhaps longer in places where there are delays in processing the tests. The PCR test is very accurate when the properly performed by a healthcare professional, but the rapid test may not detect some cases.
Detects COVID-19 virus from its start up until 14 days after being active. HIGHEST DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMANCE FOR THE DETECTION OF SYMPTOMATIC AND ASYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS.
Result delivery: 24 to 48 hrs Once taken the test
- 3D CT-SCAN COVID TORAX (TOMOGRAPHY).
*3D reconstruction has a significant role in the diagnosis and management of COVID-19 patients. The quality and reliability of 3D reconstructions allow the clinician to make a quick and efficient diagnosis and avoid an eventual false negative (produced by the RT-PCR test). We suggest including chest 3D reconstruction in the patient management and prognosis evaluation.
Result delivery: immediately
